What a location! The Rossall School is located right by the sea, on the edge of the small coastal town of Fleetwood in the county of Lancashire.

Make your summer holidays an unforgettable experience by taking part in our language camp based at Rossall School north of Manchester! In England, boarding schools have a long tradition and stand out for top of the range facilities. For our summer camp we have chosen one of the most prestigious schools in the country. As soon as you enter the premises you step into the world of Harry Potter especially when sharing your meals in the traditional Dining Hall built in 1844. On top of our high class language courses we offer a big variety of free time activities as well as excursions to the most impressive places in the North of England. By the way this amazing camp is set right at the sea with private access to the beaches of the Lancashire Coast!
Location

Shaped by its coastal location and surrounded by stunning architecture Rossall School generates an atmosphere of calm and tradition and makes you feel like being part of a Harry Potter film set. Sited on an expansive 160 acres, it offers a lot of room to pursue sporting activities and space to explore and discover. The school is located right at the sea on the outskirts of the small and friendly town of Fleetwood, part of the county of Lancashire. In good visibility you will be impressed by the splendid views over Morecambe Bay going as far as to the mountains of the Lake District.

All students are accommodated in one of the numerous boarding houses sharing spacious 1 to 4 bedded rooms. There are communal toilets and shower rooms on each floor plus comfy common rooms, a kitchenette as well as a library with computer terminals and internet access.

Activities & Excursions
Our activity program at Rossall School is guaranteed to provide for plenty of new experiences alongside your language tuition. You will be blown away by the location. The school offers sports facilities at its best including extensive floodlit sports fields, tennis and squash courts, a climbing wall plus a gym and a heated 25-meter indoor pool. As an athletic camper you will just love it! No worries if you are less ambitious. Camp is not just all about sports. We also offer lots of creative activities such as arts & crafts, dance and theatre and of course outdoor activities ranging from survival skills to team building. On sunny summer days nothing can keep us away from the beach. Prepare yourself for fun activities like sunbathing, swimming, beach volleyball and not to forget about our highly competitive sand castle competitions. But the fun doesn’t stop here – joint nights around the camp fire, BBQs, discos or talent shows provide for a diverse and memorable evening entertainment. Just be part of it and make new friends from all across the world in a fully English environment!

During your time in England you will get the chance to see some amazing places through our weekly excursions. We will show you the picturesque medieval city of York and the historic seaport and vibrant city of Liverpool where lots of popular British musicians started their career. No matter where we go our excursions are always the perfect combination of culture and sightseeing with the chance for you to shop and relax in between visiting the most popular tourist attractions our destinations have to offer. Furthermore, you will enjoy regular short trips to nearby places. The popular seaside resort of Blackpool stands out not only for its three pears and famous Pleasure Beach. It is also the home of Blackpool Tower, a 158 m high copy of the Eiffel Tower. Additionally, we will take you to the coastal town of Fleetwood, home of Lofthouse the inventors and producers of world-renowned Fisherman’s Friends.

Language Courses

The ability to communicate in different languages is a priceless gift and enables you to make friends with other campers from all across the globe. Why not developing your language skills during your holidays? All our English courses are solely carried out by native speakers in internationally mixed classes with no more than 12 students. At the beginning of the stay your English level will be assessed by our experienced teachers to ensure that you are placed in the right class, according to your language abilities. Our courses comprise 20 units of 45 minutes per week but no worries – our English lessons are not like being at school. We focus on fun and interactive education using our own modern teaching materials appropriate for each level and age group. At Rossall school we offer two different styles of learning English. It’s your choice!

English Classic

Improve your language skills in a fun way by attending our interactive Classic Courses. Our teachers put a strong focus on oral practice and make sure that you build up your confidence and improve your communication skills in a playful way and without even noticing. You will breathe new vocabulary and internalize the right pronunciation by using the language and not by memorizing boring work sheets. At camp you will always be around our English speaking staff who encourage you to put your language skills in practice, inside and outside the classroom. Attending camp will give you a boost of self-confidence and fresh motivation for your English lessons at home. Promised!

English TOEFL®

Apart from our Classic Courses we also offer two-week TOEFL® Courses. The Test Of English as a Foreign Language is the most widely respected English language test in the world. At the end of the course you will take an exam to achieve the TOEFL® certificate. The great thing is that you can’t fail the test. It just measures your ability to use and understand English as it’s read, written, heard and spoken according to the CEFR – the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A1 to C2). Attending this special course is definitely worth it as you will receive a certificate that not only proves your level of English but is also accepted at schools worldwide in case you consider to spend a school year abroad.

Attending the TOEFL® Course means that you will benefit from 10 additional units on top of your 40 hours of classic English tuition. During those additional lessons, we focus on grammar exercises and practice important parts of the exam such as reading and listening comprehension and we will also use sample tests to get you well prepared for the exam.

    Please note the different airline regulations regarding children travelling alone. If your child travels as UM (unaccompanied minor), we will charge 20 € extra for the additional effort.

    Important: No shuttle possible outside these times. We first pick up all children at the airport and then drive together to the camp. So there may be waiting times at the airport. The children are looked after during this time. Please inform us about the flight details at least six weeks before the camp starts. This is the only way to ensure a smooth arrival and departure for your child. At this time (six weeks before camp starts) we will send you our transfer questionnaire.
