Our camp is located in Bath, in the county of Somerset in the west of England.
Spend your holidays in a truly unique and historic part of Somerset. Our camp is located in Bath, a city so beautiful and special that it has been designated a UNESCO World heritage site, famous for the Roman Baths dating back to the year 43 AD. Bath is still the only place in the UK where you can bathe in naturally hot spa water. Our camp offers the perfect mix of a quiet campus with lots of sports facilities, parkland to relax and the vicinity of a city providing lots of cultural attractions and good shopping. This combined with a variety of activities, makes for the perfect way to improve your language skills and to make friends with students from all over the world. Join us for a great summer camp in England that will create memories you will never forget.
The prestigious „University of Bath“ is located on the top of a hill overlooking the historic city and just a short walk away from the center of town. The location is perfect for those students who want to take part in fun activities on campus but also would like to have the chance to explore a nearby town. The campus is surrounded by large grassy parkland including a small lake and offers plenty of space for activities. Popular meeting point at camp is the so-called “Parade” where you will find shops, cafés, and a lounge to meet with your friends during breaks or just to relax after a long eventful day.
You will stay at the center of the campus in small multi-story houses consisting of 8 to 15 single bedrooms each. There are shared toilets and shower rooms in each house plus a private common room and kitchenette on ground level.
The „University of Bath“ offers sports facilities at its best including an Olympic-size swimming pool, used by the British Swim Team as well as a big sports hall and several tennis and beach volleyball courts. But the camp is not just all about sports. We offer activities for everyone’s taste. Take part in survival skills and team building. Join in for some fun activities such as Mini Olympics or our creative arts & crafts, dance or theatre sessions. Not to forget about the evening program containing camp fires, BBQs, talent shows, discos and sports tournaments to keep you entertained. Good for you to know: We provide a fully English environment at camp, also during free time to ensure that you have got plenty of opportunities to practice your English outside the classroom.
Once a week we will take you on a full day excursion to show you interesting places such as historic Oxford, worldwide known for its famous university. London is definitely a must-see. No matter if you have visited before or not, this trip will be a highlight of your stay in England. We will show you all major sights of the capital city. Our tour commences at the Tower of London with top views of the famous Tower Bridge. Following this short stop, we continue our tour by boat on the river Thames, all the way down to the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. A short walk away we will catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister’s home in Downing Street and continue our walk along the Horse Guards up to Buckingham Palace. For those shopping fans, we take a quick side trip to the cool stores in Carnaby Street or Covent Garden. The icing of the cake will be our picnic at famous Hyde Park before heading back to camp. A great day out!
If you only travel to Bath for one week please got to the section “Details” to find out which excursion takes place during the week you have chosen.
At the weekend we will also explore the city of Bath. For sure you will see the old Pump Room and the natural thermal spa. Why not showing off your rowing skills during a boat trip on the river Avon? Or just go for a stroll around town for some shopping. The vibrant city of Bath offers a great mix of historic features and modern trends due to the high population of students. You will love it!
The ability to communicate in different languages is a priceless gift and enables you to make friends with other campers from all across the globe. Why not developing your language skills during your holidays? All our English courses are solely carried out by native speakers in internationally mixed classes with no more than 12 students. At the beginning of the stay your English level will be assessed by our experienced teachers to ensure that you are placed in the right class, according to your language abilities. Our courses comprise 20 units of 45 minutes per week but no worries – our English lessons are not like being at school. We focus on fun and interactive education using our own modern teaching materials appropriate for each level and age group. At Bath University we offer two different styles of learning English. It’s your choice!
Improve your language skills in a fun way by attending our interactive Classic Courses. Our teachers put a strong focus on oral practice and make sure that you build up your confidence and improve your communication skills in a playful way and without even noticing. You will breathe new vocabulary and internalize the right pronunciation by using the language and not by memorizing boring work sheets. At camp you will always be around our English speaking staff who encourage you to put your language skills in practice inside and outside the classroom. Attending camp will give you a boost of self-confidence and fresh motivation for your English lessons at school. Promised!
Apart from our Classic Courses we also offer two-week TOEFL® Courses. The Test Of English as a Foreign Language is the most widely respected English language test in the world. At the end of the course you will take an exam to achieve the TOEFL® certificate. The great thing is that you can’t fail the test. It just measures your ability to use and understand English as it’s read, written, heard and spoken according to the CEFR – the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A1 to C2). Attending this special course is definitely worth it as you will receive a certificate that not only proves your level of English but is also accepted at schools worldwide in case you consider to spend a school year abroad.
Attending the TOEFL® Course means that you will benefit from 10 additional units on top of your 40 hours of classic English tuition. During those additional lessons, we focus on grammar exercises and practice important parts of the exam such as reading and listening comprehension and we will also use sample tests to get you well prepared for the exam.
